It was another impressive season for the nationally-ranked Rio Hondo College women’s soccer program under the direction of head coach Jennifer Tanaka-Hoshijo. On Feb. 29, the team celebrated its many successes on and off the field at its annual awards banquet that was attended by over 120 individuals.
Members of Rio Hondo College’s South Coast Conference women’s soccer championship squad were rewarded after an impressive 8-0 run as the Roadrunners totaled 11 all-conference awards at the postseason coaches meeting.
Serina Vargas (pictured) and Vivian Viramontes both scored three goals each to help lead the No. 15 national-ranked Rio Hondo College women’s soccer team to a huge 9-1 rout at Pasadena City College on Tuesday.
Rio Hondo College sophomore Vivian Viramontes scored a goal and added an assist to help lead the Roadrunners to a 2-1 non-conference win over No. 7 nationally-ranked Chaffey College on Tuesday in Rancho Cucamonga.
Sophomore Zitlali Jimenez’ goal late in the first half would prove to be all the offense Rio Hondo College would need to defeat Clovis Community College by a final score of 1-0 on Friday to close out the New Balance Community College Classic at Ventura College.
